You're All In For a Treat..

Why are you all in for a treat? Not because this movie is good (which..it's not,) but because if you steadily read this and enjoy it you're lucky I'm making a damn post for today..and right now at 6:40 A.M. I'm trying my best to keep this as daily as possible and I am also trying to think of some ways to get more then..7 readers. Anyone have suggestions? E-Mail them to me...But, Anyways. I said that there was a bunch of movies I had to choose from, and as you can from the poster picture I chose:

"An American Haunting (2005)"

This film starts off good, but then just..it's like a slow decline. I really didn't like it and found myself becoming bored by it and losing interest. Here's the basic plotline..

This is supposedly based on a true story, I don't know if it's real. I had never heard of the story prior to the movie so. Supposedly this women put a curse on the Bell family, or a curse of some sort and it begins haunting the family. The result is supposedly the only case in US History of a person dying from a spirit or entity..

So..that sounds really cool right? Yeah it does...and the movie was good for the first..like 30 minutes..but it just starts getting really boring. You can only do so much with a spirit attacking a little girl before the viewer is just like "Oh..she's getting slapped again by an invisible entity..that just happened earlier..totally entertaining."

The acting is pretty good and there's some well-known actors in it..why? I really don't know. Two of them to clarify. One of them being Sissy Spacek, the other being Donald Sutherland. The acting, like I said, is pretty good for the most part. The main problem is the damn story is boring. If executed the right way this probably could've been much better..Oh yeah. They also do this lame-ass twist in the end..

I will be 100% honest. I can't remember half of the movie, I didn't understand the twist, nor' the end. This is a surefire sign that this movie wasn't holding my attention because if I can pay attention to that piece of shit "Grandmas Boy," then I can basically hold my attention on to anything. Also, I'm gonna continue to keep count of how many times I bash "Grandmas Boy," so far this is the third time..

I'm gonna ruin the movie because it's a piece of shit and chances are you're never gonna see this unless you download it. It's a small little film that was released in theaters way under the radar (I never heard of this movie until someone recommended the score to it..which is supposedly a very good horror score. I haven't gotten to listen to it yet but in the movie it sounded good.) O'Kay..so in the end the father is molesting the daughter who's being terrified by this spirit..and the father dies. (I'm safely assuming that the father molesting the daughter is something made just for the movie..) Totally stupid...So a mother is reading it the story from notes, and it turns to video as you watch it..so when she finishes it you return to her and she lets her daughter out and guess what? She see's a ghost and starts screaming and chasing after the car the daughter is in.

Complete shit..Not good man..The score works good in it though and I'm told it's very good stand-a-lone. I will be listening to it very soon. It's only available through iTunes unfortunately but someone sent it to me so, I shall' be getting to it soon.

So, in conclusion. It's pretty bad..I went into it not knowing what to expect and it was O'Kay in the beginning but I gradually lost interest and barely remember/understand the ending. My review is not unfair, the movie just sucks and that's what happens when you're movie sucks. You lose the viewers attention, hence a bad review. If I had to rate this I'd give it a 4 out of 10..Check it out if you want but it's barely mediocre..You may like it though because..on IMDB.com there are a good number of people who do. But it also has a low score so..I guess I am part of the majority here..

...Something coming soon. Within the next couple of days there will be something, and hopefully more readers and comments.

The Summer Film of 2007

Here you go...Today at 2:30 the Spider-Man 3 Teaser Trailer was released. Fucking amazing. The music throughout the whole thing is awesome (although I wonder if it's from the acutal film,) Sandman looks fucking awesome..the goo looks fucking awesome. Man, I can't wait for this.. The first two movies are amazing on first viewings but lose momentum with each viewing afterwards then they just become mediocre..this one LOOKS like it could be fucking awesome and not fall in the same category as the previous (not to mention the shitty GG costume in the 1st..) Topher Grace is so going to fucking work as Eddie Brock too..all he said was "Parker..." and he just fits for me. Even though they're going a different angle with Brock in the movie for some reason he just fit so fucking perfectly...and it just..worked...Venom.. From what I hear he's only in the movie for the last like 20 minutes or so but oh my god..I'm gonna geek out so fucking bad in the theatre waiting to see this opening day...

Here's the link for the SPIDER-MAN 3 TEASER!

- I say fuck a lot when I'm excied.

Varese Sarabande Club Releases for July..

For anyone who doesn't doesn't know what Varese Sarabande is, it's a label that releases a lot of movie soundtracks. Varese Sarabande releases "Club" CD's which are special CDs. Movie scores that have never been released, or expanded releases, etc. They're usually limited to 3,000 or so prints. It depends. Today they released the CDs available for the month of July (they do them every 4 months or so I think..I'm not sure.) Out of the four two of them are already sold out..

"Sky Bandits" by Alfi Kabiljo (was limited to 1,000 prints and is sold out already..).
"An Unfinished Life - CD CLub" by Christopher Young (this is ALSO sold out already as well. Not sure how many were issued..)
"The War Of The Roses Also Includes: The Sandlot" by David Newman (Limited to 2,000 copies..still available.)
"Gloria" by Bill Conti (Limited to 2,000 copies...still available.)

If anyone is interested in those titles, at least the ones still available, you can buy them here.

You don't really need anything special to order them despite the fact that the word "Club" is in the title. As long as you have an account, which you can make as you order the CDs even if they're part of the club releases, you can order them. Unfortunately I've never heard of any of those movies so..I did not purchase any of them. Anyways, I figured I'd post this just incase it interests SOMEONE...

Coming soon: There's a couple of things, depends on my mood: "An American Haunting," which is a film from 2005 and "The Lost World." The latter of the previously mentioned films is from like..1928 and is the first ever giant monster disaster movie. Very interesting...

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

Here is the review that I promised earlier in the night, I will have another review coming tomorrow night I think if I have the time.

"2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)"

Stanley Kubrick is the shit. But you all probably already knew that. In my Film/Video class I took this semestor my teacher showed us the beginning of this movie..about 4/5 months ago. I watched it and I was so fucking INTO it and I wanted to see the rest of it.

This movie is a unique piece of film. It starts off showing humans before they were humans. Monkeys that were not very smart. They fight over a water hole..this monolith comes and the Monkeys see it. Some more happens but I won't spoil it. Then you see as another group of people encounter the monolith..and the same thing afterwards. Each encounter different. The main bulk of the movie focusing on the third group. 8 months after the third group ships off with a computer named "HAL." And "HAL" is evidently the first computer of it's type to make a mistake and a mess of things happen and he becomes the villain..This movie is extremely hard to explain...=P. But..that's the basis of it. If that makes sense to you..then..GOOD. If it doesn't..read the outline on IMDB.

The beginning of this movie is amazing. This whole movie is beautifully shot and amazing for it's time. The monkeys are my favorite part..that drew me into the whole movie and it's still my favorite part. It's just extremely interesting. Not many movies where there's long periods of just visual story and it works.. This movie starts off with 25 minutes of pure visual story, no dialogue. This film has a lot of visual story, no dialogue, I believe I read almost 80 minutes worth.

Next the second group that encounters the monolith again..this one was kinda' boring to me but still incredibly interesting. Finally comes the main bulk of the film with the third group encountering the monolith. The computer of "HAL" works so well as a villain..that may sound retarded. But it just works wonderfully. Kubrick is amazing. The way this is shot is amazing. The direction of the actors is amazing...none of them slip up and they make you believe they're in outer space..completely amazing. Not one of them slips up.

The end confused the hell out of me...I need to re-watch it. But I believe after researching it a bit the end isn't supposed to make 100% sense..Maybe I'm wrong. Anyone seen this and want to correct me/inform me about it? Please do..

The soundtrack is all classical music. Nothing from a composer or anything, Beethoven and a bunch of other music that I don't know the name of, but know by sound and love. It works wonderfully in the film.

Anyways, this movie is awesome. It's an awesome Sci-Fi flick. Stanley Kubrick was awesome in EVERYTHING he did. Two of my favorite movies of all time are his "The Shining," and the classic..."Full Metal Jacket." Definately see this..I've wanted to see this for a long time along with "A Clockwork Orange" which I've STILL never seen but I want to very badly. Soon, hopefully. Just see everything by Stanley Kubrick he's an amazing film maker..one of the greatest.

Coming soon is a quick post in like 20 minutes and as for reviews...?

Awesome Movie Update Coming

Later tonight I will have a review up for a movie that I've wanted to see for months that is a now classic by Stanley Kubrick that I've NEVER seen. I've been waiting for the special edition DVD re-release of it coming this or next year instead of buying the already released shitty edition. I've finally found it somewhere to "borrow" and will be watching it sometime later tonight and updating soon after. Any guesses on which film it is?

Box Office for 6/23/2006.

Only two wide releases..

"Click": I can't recommend this. Only because Adam Sandler is no longer consistent with his work. "Billy Madison" and "Happy Gilmore" are some of the funniest movies of my generation..even "Waterboy" and "Big Daddy" can be included. Besides "Punch Drunk Love" (which I've never seen,) everything he's put out since then has been mediocre at best, and this includes movies he's produced ("Grandmas Boy" gets a second derogatory mention...what a piece of shit that was for the most part..immature as hell.) Pretty much all of his recent movies have been mediocre and he's moving out of his somewhat edgie/creative comedy and more into lame romantic comedies that have less..and less comedy in them. Go and see it if you like Sandler but otherwise..I don't know if I would spend my money on it.

IMDB link for "Click."

"Waist Deep": I've heard nothing about this movie, only about the soundtrack which was played at work..and my one co-worker who likes rap said it sucked except for a couple of songs. Sounds stupid to me..about some ex-con who "risks" his life and freedom to get his son back after learning he's been kidnapped. Did I mention the ex-con is played by Tyrese? From what I can remember/heard Tyrese can't act for shit (wasn't he a rapper once? No wonder he can't act.) Don't go and see this unless you're interested in movies where the target audience is African Americans, which this movie looks to be...

IMDB link for "Waist Deep."

"Road to Guantanamo"
: I just read the plot and it sounds quite interesting. It's a documentary/drama about three British Muslims who were suspected of Terrorism and held in prison for two years and then released without charges..I don't know. It sounds quite interesting but it's a limited release so if it's interesting and it's actually playing by you..go see it, I would if I had the money to..but I don't. Eventually I hope to catch this somewhere..it sounds very interesting.

IMDB link for "Road to Guantanamo."

"Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man": Limited, a documentary on the singer/song-writer compiled from interviews and a bunch of other shit. I don't even know who the hell Leonard Cohen is..so.

IMDB link for "Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man."

"Wassup Rockers": Limited...sounds stupid. About of bunch of spanish skaters who leave South Central for Hollywood (it's 3 in the morning you know..don't expect me to read all of the outlines..especially for this. It sounds like shit..) and guess what happens? They get with all kinds of local rich "babes" and get in trouble with the police. This sounds way shitty to me...The guy who made this also made the film "Bully" and that movie sucked, big time...

IMDB link for "Wassup Rockers."

Finally..there's a foreign (Chinese or Japanese, not sure) film coming out called "The Hidden Blade" coming out and it looks O'Kay..it's getting a decent rating on IMDB..I've never heard of it.It's about a samurai who liberates a lady from an abusive husband and they fall in love and then problems occur between him and someone else..Go and see it if this is your kinda' thing...the plot doesn't get me too excited though..oh yeah and this movies only playing in New York..

IMDB link for "Hidden Blade."

That's it for the box office..if it seems rushed, guess what? It was..I realized I hadn't done it and I had originally not even wanted to do it because it was late but I said I was going to do it so I just rushed it..it's probably still decent. Next weeks opening will be a synch! Only 3 films open...Hoorah. I'll post something tomorrow..I don't know what yet..but something..

Uwe Boll Petition

I just read one of the funniest things I've read in a long time..

Uwe Boll, the director/producer of such terrible, terrible films such as "House of the Dead," "Alone in the Dark," "Bloodrayne," and the forthcoming terrible films "Postal," and "Far Cry," is ANNOYED with critics who always bash his movies for sucking (which they do..they're fucking terrible. Notice..they're almost all video game based movies? What a fucking hack,) and because of this has put a challenge to any critics at a boxing match that will supposedly be editted into parts of the film "Postal," and the fights will also be put on the internet for yours and my viewing pleasure..

Now..I knew about this boxing match challenge..but what's funny is this little piece of information I just learned about now and I'm going to copy and paste about Uwe Boll and his filmmaking right here: "The filmmaker is incensed by an online petition which has 13,327 signatures of people asking him to stop making movies."

Fucking hilarious. The petition now has 13,432 signatures...Box office stuff tonight.

Violence Is Always Funny

"Jackass: The Movie (2002)"

So. Robyn recently told me they were making a new Jackass movie and I did not know that. Guess what? Last night I watched the teaser trailer for the new movie, "Jackass: Number Two" and I was in the mood to watch the first one. So..I "borrowed" this film and I've seen it about 4 times..and it's still godamn hilarious.

Everyone is hilarious like usual..except for the midget..I really don't like most of his bits. The movie is a combination of..pranks I guess you could call them and violence. <3 Violence.

One of my favorite pranks in the movie is the "Golf Airhorn," which is where they activate an airhorn as a golfer is about to come down with his/her swing. So damn funny..There's nothing funnier then just watched 4 dudes get their asses kicked by each other/do stupid shit and be in extreme pain..NOTHING. Plus Johnny Knoxville is hilarious..he needs to find his big movie, I think he can be a good comedy actor. He seems O'Kay, he just needs to find some roles that will really let him shine.

There isn't much to talk about since this is purely visual comedy..you're either going to laugh your ass off at someone jumping off a trampoline into a running ceiling fan or your not. I definately will laugh..If you won't then I strongly suggest not seeing this..although I really can't understand how the fact you can't find it funny.. If you liked the TV show you will obviously like the movie since it's basically the same shit. This movie uses one of the coolest songs in the credits too while they show extra footage, "Hybrid Moments" by the Misfits..love that song. That's pointless..but it works cool in the end credits..fun to just jam along to it and watch people get hurt. Anyways, check the movie out if you like stupid goofy stuff and people getting hurt..I recommend it.

IMDB link for "Jackass: The Movie."

If this isn't a good review to you all, I'm sorry. I started typing it but was then interrupted a couple of times..I'll have something good tomorrow when I take a look at the box office..

Something Different

O'Kay when I posted about "The Jerk" earlier I hadn't really thought about this but guess what? I did now so I've gotten an idea and am going to do something just a tad bit different from what I usually do on here...

"V For Vendetta" has had two postings so far on my blog! A review of the movie..and a review of the score (which I'm listening to..RIGHT NOW.) Well guess what? With a birthday comes gifts..And with my birthday came a gift that I'm totally psyched about..

The graphic novel of "V For Vendetta" by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. I would like to give thanks to the wonderful and amazing Robyn for an awesome gift, and awesome gifts!

Coming soon will be a review for the graphic novel of "V For Vendetta" as I plan to start reading it tomorrow! Hoorah, I hope that's interesting to you..I will also attempt to have a movie review up tomorrow. Until then enjoy the reviews for "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "The Jerk" and comment it up (especially on the X-Men post..jeez I was expecting some sort of feedback on my opinion on that...) Also, let me know in this post comment section if you like my choice to go with the movie poster instead of the DVD covers..because I really like it but would like to know others opinions..

If you're bored, watch some animals! The Panda bear is adorable! He was sleeping earlier..and woke up and did this yawn move and then went back to bed..so fucking cute.

Animal webcams RULE.

I really want to see one of the Cheetahs on the cams...if you see one stop the player and take a screenshot (you have to stop it because for some reason the screenshot saves the video and even as a photo it plays the live stream..weird..) and send it to me. OH MY GOD! I JUST SAW ONE, BUT HE WAS REALLY FAR OFF IN THE DISTANCE..=[. If anyone gets a really close viewing of him screencap it for me please! Anyways, enjoy the adorable animals.

The Jerk

The other night I was looking through my collection of movies that I have "borrowed" and was in the mood to watch "V For Vendetta" AGAIN..But it was too long and I wanted to watch something that would be over at around 4 A.M..I was thinking about watching the original "Omen" but was in the mood for a comedy...so I began to watch..

"The Jerk (1979)"

I actually fell asleep with 10 minutes left of this movie..but finished it the next day. A lot of people that I know say that this movie is..amazingly funny. Maybe I don't love the late 70's/early 80's movie style? It just was very boring to me..Like..O'Kay, it kept me interested and there was a lot of funny stuff in it..but it wasn't as good as everyone I know claims it to be. My one manager at work says it's one of the funniest movies ever..

This movie is about this white guy who's adopted and he's somewhat stupid, and he's adopted by a black family (and he does not realize he's adopted..told you he was stupid.) So they tell him he's adopted and he realizes he wants to see what's out in the world or some shit like that..so he leaves his black family and goes out into the real world. I really didn't find Steve Martin that funny..I dunno. I found him more fucking annoying then funny. I don't know..

There's no score to the movie, like pretty much a good majority of 70's/80's comedies. Just a bunch of songs going along with the scene..totally out-dated, although I knew the one song, believe it was called "You Belong To Me." Otherwise I think there's one more song..that's it. It's a mostly quiet movie, just a bunch of dialogue. But it doesn't hurt..

One of the more under-used jokes in the movie is that the dogs name is "Shithead." Everytime he called the dog..I was laughing. No matter what the situation. The flow of the movie was weird too..the story wraps up abruptly and very fast..I don't know. You can also somewhat tell this movies just a bit out-dated.

Basically, I suggest seeing this if you want to watch a decent comedy and haven't seen it already, but don't go into it thinking it's going to be one of the funniest movies ever..because I found it to be WAY over-rated...Which is a shame because I love a good comedy..

IMDB link for "The Jerk."

Coming soon: I don't know..it really depends on when/what I feel like watching....we'll see..

X-Men: The Last Stand

"X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)"

Saturday me and Robyn spent the day together participating in a ton of activities including the Zoo and a picnic (as I said in my last post,) and also on short notice we went to the movies! We saw this! Now on AICN it was bashed and obviously by fanboys who are to annoyed with the butchering of characters to see that's it's a decent movie.

Brett Ratner copies Singers directing style pretty well although he doesn't get as good of a performance out of some of the actors as Singer did. Hugh Jackman specifically..there's a lot of spots where Jackmans acting is stiff and his line delivery is poor in some scenes (such as the Danger Room he's supposed to be all tough and stuff but it just comes off really bad.) Halle Berry is 100% miscast. She fucking sucks as Storm and she's always been miscast from the 1st film and unfortunately she gets a bigger part in this film..UGH.

The story..umm, there are some REALLY STUPID DECISIONS IN THIS MOVIE..I think. Lets just say..two characters are killed..one isn't very important..but the other is a big one..and it is a fucking STUPID STUPID DECISION. You don't need to have big character deaths to make the movie have more depth. Famke Jansen is good as Dark Phoenix..she plays both sides of Phoenix awesomely and well..The acting is decent for the most part..but Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut is not very good. The costume design of Juggernaut = Looks pretty retarded...Vinnie Jones doesn't 100% fit the part..he works, but not very well. But his character is involved in one of the funniest parts of the movie with Kitty Pride..

Another problem, I really didn't like what they did with Rogue. Bobby starts hanging out with Kitty Pride and she gets jealous and worries that he'll be interested in her since he can touch her, etc..and she starts thinking about getting the cure. It's stupid because it just makes her look like she's a teen making a mistake over a relationship...not good. It doesn't ruin the movie and it adds a nice touch but..I really think they could've done something better with her character..but it is kind of resolved nicely..but it still makes her look like a dumb teenager..

There's one extremely bad editting part that I was told about and I was LOOKING away when it happened..After Magneto moves the Golden Gate bridge there's a quick cut where they're moving over the bridge and it's daylight and then the next cut it's night-time. But, otherwise the editting wasn't too bad.

I really liked the beginning camera shot..it was nice. Seemed like something I'd never seen before. It was nice. The end fight was alright..it could've been better. But it was entertaining. I think Dark Phoenix was underused and should've been shown throwing people the fuck around and just destroying tons of shit. I really don't understand why they didn't..I guess it's because they wanted to show that she still had a forgiving and loving side..but they could've still had that going while her destroying tons of shit...totally underused.

The movie overall was O'Kay but I really think some of the things they did with the characters were VERY BAD. Such as with Xavier and Rogue. The score by John Powell is my second favorite of the year so far. It's very loud and boomy, but it's a lot of action and catchie stuff that you can hum! There's a theme for Phoenix that kinda' sounds arabic..but it's good. The X-Men theme is used too, it's a very good score. Really one of my favorites of the year..the last 7 or so tracks are amazing, I'll do a post on the score eventually as well..

I will admit, I didn't stay after the credits to see what happened because I know what happens..I'll see it later. I really, really liked what happened with Magneto though right before the credits..totally cool. I actually liked what they did with Magneto for the most part, pretty cool stuff with him, but they really fumbled with the other characters too me..but it was still good.

"X-Men: The Last Stand" was pretty good..I can't really EXPLAIN how good this is through words..so I would give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5..It was good..but it wasn't as great as it could've been..but it was entertaining and it was fun. Powells score is fucking awesome and is one of the better things to come from the movie. I won't be buying this movie..but I will be seeing it again multiple times through other ways..it's not worth buying though. It's worth a watch though..It's a shame though, I really think this could've been much better if Singer stuck around. I don't think Fox would've done so much bullshit with the script. It's still good though..

Coming Soon: An oldie, "The Jerk."

Mountain Lions! (V For Vendetta Score!)

Alright, before I talk about the score for the movie "V For Vendetta" I DO just want to say that yesterday Robyn suprized me with a bunch of activities including, a picnic, and attending a park that has a zoo area..It was awesome! There were..Mountain Lions (One of my favz..) and there were...Prairie Dogs..and there were...birds, iguanas..all kinds of shit. My favorite animals were the Mountain Lions and the Goats! There's one goat..and he always climbs on to this stump..and just stands there and does nothing. It's so cute. But anyways..Zoos are awesome.. <333.

O'Kay! The score for "V For Vendetta" by Dario Marianelli:

This is one of my favorite scores of the year. This and John Powells "X-Men: The Last Stand." I haven't gotten the chance to listen to it lately but there isn't really a main theme that I can remember in the score (Unless you count the "1812 Overture" which is played at two important moments and is kind of V's trademark.) One thing that I don't like about the soundtrack? It's got songs that have lyrics..I can't stand that. There are 3, all used in the movie. "Cry Me a River," "I Found A Reason," and "Bird Gurhl." They're all OK..But I would've preferred more score..can't stand when they do that.

The 1st track "Remember Remember" is fast and catchie it combines the opening sequence and adds in the TV Station Attack music at the end of the track. Track #3, "..Governments Should Be Afraid of Their People" is somewhat like the first track but slower..I can't remember..(this is a bad review! =P) "Evey's Story" is slow with fast parts to it as she tells V her story. It has a mysterious feel too it and it works. "Lust At The Abbey" is a lot of choral work done over bells. It works very well in the movie for a scene regarding a Church. It picks up about a minute in with some instruments and quickens a bit.

"The Red Diary" is a long track, 7:33. It's slow, and fast. This takes place during a flashback sequence and there's moments where you can tell the music is supposed to sound haunting..The next track "Valerie" is one of the best tracks on the CD! It is 8:48 and it takes place in the film as Evey is held captive and reads a prisoner named Valeries quckly written life story after finding it secretly hidden in her cell. It starts off fast as she is captured and then goes through her getting her hair shaved (like you didn't know this happened already?) This is one of the best tracks on the album. A lot of the music works when you you would think it wouldn't work...it's weird. The music is beautiful and works fine outside of the movie. "Evey Reborn" is a beautiful song as well, as you can tell signifying a "rebirth" of her. You've probably seen pictures of it in the trailer where she's in the rain. It works well in the movie and out of the movie!

Finally you begin to get to the climactic end of the CD..Ouu. "England Prevails" is a fine track giving a bit of buildup beforehand. This takes place during my second favorite scene which is JUST like my favorite scene..two inspectors are talking to an informant in a memorial hall and as the informant tells the story of what he says has been REALLY going on it cuts and shows everything happening as he explains it with it...

"The Dominoes Fall" is played as V knocks down all the Dominoes (parts of this are also heard in the end..but they aren't inluded on the last track..which I wish they were.. =[. You've also probably seen footage from this in the trailers/TV spots.) This track is from my FAVORITE scene in the movie..The detective chasing V is explaining how he felt like he could see what was going to happen..and says that he couldn't REALLY see..but he can give a pretty good guess. So he starts talking and as he talks it cuts to shots of everything he's saying..happening just like the scene where "England Prevails" is played but it doesn't seem old, or like you've heard it before (or seen it before when you watch the movie.) It's great.. But it's so beautifully done and the music fits it so godamn perfectly. I'm telling you, there's so many great things about this movie..=P It starts off slow and mysterious and then becomes loud and monsterous with lots of drums, etc...Once again..fits the godamn scene in the movie PERFECTLY. Scenes like this are what makes me want to get into filmmakking..they're just so PERFECT. And..the standout climactic tracks come next (excluding the damn song "Bird Guhrl.") Pretty much every song on this CD does but to me these last 3 stand out. Finally "Knives And Bullets (And Cannons Too)" which is a fast track that has 2 different sounds. It starts off fast and loud and changes into the "1812 Overture," in the last minute or two. Works perfectly and is great to listen to apart from the movie.

The music works perfectly IN the movie..I really need to stress this. I may not have said it does on a lot of the tracks, but it does. The last tracks just stand out to me for some reason. I'd never heard of Dario Marianelli before but now I can't wait to hear what he does next..this is my favorite score of the year with the new X-Men behind it in second. There's a lot of fast percussion (which I love..) and lots of catchie fast action pieces as well. This is a really good score not just for the movie though it's a good listen apart from the movie because it has a nice balance of fast and slow tracks that never bore the listener...this should definately be checked out by anyone who enjoys movie scores. I can do NOTHING but rave about anything that has to do with the movie "V For Vendetta." The music..phenomenal..the movie, phenomenal..everything about it is just amazing..

O'Kay, That may've been hard to read through..I'm experimenting with what is the best way to write a review for a score especially since I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to music and the vocabulary/instruments. So..give me some time, if that was kind of boring to read, I'm sorry..I'm working on it. I'll be sure to keep it interesting next time...

Coming soon I will have my review for "X-Men: The Last Stand" which I saw yesterday..

V For Vendetta

V For Vendetta (2006)"

Alright. I saw this movie twice in theatres. I had free tickets from work..I went and saw it once with Robyn and once alone. When I went with Robyn we didn't know much about the movie..I mean, I had followed it but didn't know much about the story besides that V was a terrorist using violence for freedom, and we were both blown away by it. The second time the film was just as amazing. So, last night I had the chance to rewatch it (I've been waiting to rewatch it..I really wanted to see it again..) and it's still amazing.

Hugo Weaving plays the Guy Fawkes mask wearing terrorist V. Natalie Portman plays Evey, a woman who works for a TV Broadcasting Company. V saves her, and she saves him..she ends up becoming a part of V's plot to free England from a Totallitarian government.

Hugo Weaving is AMAZING as V. It's incredibly hard to get the audience to feel for a characters who face and facial expressions you NEVER see. But every line Hugo Weaving delivers seems perfectly delivered. He's a great actor with good range. He was perfect in "LOTR," Good in "The Matrix" (although the last film sucked..) and he completely nails the role of V.

Natalie Portman shows once again that she can act in the role of Evey...either George Lucas can't direct worth a shit or it's just that the dialogue was so bad that no matter how hard she tried to sell it in the Star Wars prequels..it just made her acting look like shit. She is great in "V For Vendetta." Solid acting all over this movie. I can't name one character that I thought had some shitty acting going on, (and there's quite a lot of characters in it, though some of them aren't around for very long.)

The film itself is amazing. There's one plot hole in it that isn't..very well discussed..but there are details that are part of it that somewhat stop it from being a plot hole. It's really hard to explain without giving anything away. The score by Dario Marianelli (I'd never heard of him before..) is GREAT. It works well in the film. It's also a great listen on it's own..READ AHEAD! This movie is a drama movie/action. Drama first, action second. It was marketed as an action film, that it is not, it's more drama oriented. "V For Vendetta" excels and it's a movie with a point, and a very good story. EVERYONE Should see this movie. This is one of the best movies of 2006.

SEE "V FOR VENDETTA" IT'S AN AMAZING AND IMPORTANT FILM!

The next post will be a review of the score for "V For Vendetta" by Dario Marianelli. I was going to put them both in the same post but for some reason when I try to add the picture of the CD cover to the post (which is virtually the same as the poster I used for the movie..but I'd like to stick to a certain style of posting..) it puts it at the top of the post and I don't want that..and I'm not in the mood to screw with it..SO. Either tomorrow night or in a little while I will put that up..

A New Chapter Of My Life!

Another day passes and a new chapter in my life opens..I am now technically 19 years old! Ouuu, almost in my twenties!

Tomorrow, or sometime this weekend I shall' be going down to my local UPS Building and inquiring about a job there where I will be making twice the amount of money I make now at the shithole called Coconuts, and then some, yet still be working the same amount of hours. Lets hope things will work out for me! I will post a review later tonight but for now since today is technically Thursday now for me, I will just give a run-down of the films opening tomorrow.

"Fast and the Furious: Tokya Drift" : I don't know much about cars..I admit that right out of the gates, so this movie or any of the movies in this series do not really attract me. The first one was O'Kay..it wasn't horrible. Second one I never watched, it looked atrocious..and this one is the same. Looks atrocious. From what I've read there's a bit of a suprize ending involving one of the shittiest actors of the past 10 years. Wonderful.../sarcasm. Another shit movie enters the theatre, wouldn't recommend seeing this ever..

IMDB link for "Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift."

"Nacho Libre" : Jack Black plays some cook for a Mexican monastary who begins wrestling so the orphans can have better food. He is also trying to have a lady fall in love with him. Ehh', this looks alright. I really don't know what to say about it. None of the posters did much for me nor' did the trailers. Jack Blacks funny..but, ehh. This is also a Nickelodeon (I THINK..not 100% sure..) film so it's probably more geared towards kids..and as I've stated earlier I don't enjoy kids films to much in theatre. I enjoy them at home. -I would not pay $9 to see this in theatre..

IMDB link for "Nacho Libre."

"Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties" : Why, for the love of Christ? Garfield looked and as I've been told was fucking TERRIBLE. The CGI cat looked like shit..This is typical cliche hack children movie. One character gets lost, or twins get switched..or something that's been done 1,000,000 times before. Same old shit over and over again. Screw this movie. And screw Bill Murray. He's a comic legend but guess what? 70% of the films he puts out now are complete shit..I will never watch this, ever. And you shouldn't either.

IMDB link for "Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties."

"The Lake House":Those are the big main releases. There's another worldwide release called "The Lake House" opening up tomorrow that I've never heard of. The plot sounds..pretty dumb. It sounds like romantic film with some sort of myster twist Stupid.. Here is the IMDB Link for actual information, I know nothing about it and don't feel like looking through it:

IMDB link for "The Lake House."

There's a couple of limited releases that I've never heard of..there's also a lot of released that are just popping up in NY and LA. I know nothing about these films so....yeah.

Overall...quite the shitty opening weekend. Nothing really interesting..maybe the limited releases are but, they're limited. I would say if you're determined to go to the theatre, see "Nacho Libre" otherwise, don't go.. Next weeks openings look shitty too. But..that'll be explained next Thursday if I decide to keep doing a section for movie openings. Only time will tell.

Terrence Malick

"The New World (2006)"

O'Kay..this is about Pocahontas and John Smith. Pocahontas is played by a new Indian actor who's name I do not know at the moment.. John Smith is played by Colin Farrel. Farrel's acting is decent in this compared to a piece of shit like Phone Booth (what trash..) and I liked him in the movie, the girl playing Pocahontas was good too. Christian Bale is in the movie as well as Pocahontases second love interest and he's good, the whole cast is good. O'Kay...now. This movie is directed by Terrence Malick and his movies are...unique? They're different...not your normal cliche BS movie. This movie is weird because this is how the storyline goes:

1) John Smith is the main character, he meets Pocahontas and she becomes supporting character..
2) Smith is gone, Pocahontas becomes the main character..
3) Pocahontas becomes involved with John Rolfe (Christian Bale) and she continues to be the main character but John Rolfe now moves in as a supporting character.

This movie was 3 hours long I believe and then trimmed down to 2 hours..and to me it shows. Big time. There are some REALLY loose cuts where Pocahontas will be standing with her back towards John Smith and then you see some kids running around and then next shot Smith and her are interacting face to face..It seemed like there were some really strange story jumps, at least for me.

This movie is beautifully shot..some extremely nice scenery and everything works very well. You can tell lots of planning went into scouting and shooting locations. If you've been interested in this movie..every reviewer says this, and that's because it's 100% true..

The score by James Horner..ehh. I listened to it and in the film I couldn't stand it because there's a loud theme I guess it can be called played about 4 times throughout the film and it was just annoying to me, I then "borrowed" the score off the intraweb but haven't gotten to listen to it yet (I do a lot of borrowing/trying before I buy..) Sometimes you need to hear these things apart from the movie though to truly appreciate it..so. This will be continued near the end of the post..

Before that though this story because of the way it's shot and presented. Maybe I'm just retarded and am to dumb to understand it? I plan on rewatching this movie because: It's very strange. I watched the whole thing paying attention almost the whole time..and the movie basically has a bunch of mood stages..1) Happy 2) Sad 3)Sort of happy.. 4) ????. When the fucking movie ended...I had NO CLUE if it was a happy ending or if it was a sad ending which now that I think about it is sort of retarded on my part since it's BASED ON THE TRUE STORY of Pocahontas and John Smith..but what was trying to be put across in the movie got across so that I got the jist of what was happening but I don't think I got the meaning. So I sat here for 20 minutes trying to decide whether I liked the movie or not..and I'm still blank on it. It's good..but it's not...but it is..UGH. I really don't know. Plus the movie itself kinda' made me sad because it's pretty much a sad story..(at least to me it was..someone could argue different.) I don't know. While trying to figure out whether I should be happy, or sad at the end of the movie I just came out being depressed..

This is an interesting piece of film. It's definately worth checking out BUT be warned you may not like it. I've never seen "The Thin Red Line" but it's by the same director who was responsible for that. It's not your normal film and for me to truly appreciate it I think I'm going to have to watch it again, and I plan on it. Malick is an innovative and un-usual director/writer, etc. For now though, that's what I think of it..maybe I'll re-update about my changed opinion once I watched it again! Basically what I'm saying is I'm cut down the middle on this film 50/50 and can't say it's good, nor' bad. Check it out..but I can't guarentee you'll enjoy it on your first viewing, or enjoy it period..

You can click the poster, and all following posters for a bigger view. Not to big..but good enough for you to see what's going on..Oh yeah, and now that I've added it, I would like add that the poster is beautiful...

Alright. Now about the score by James Horner. This blog is for movie reviews but I am also very interested in movie scores and there aren't many pages that review them, etc. So I will also be reviewing movie scores. I don't have much knowledge when it comes to music..but I will try to give as good of descriptions as possible and try to make the review decent. Once again like the movies I will be reviewing old and new scores..

I've been up since 2 O'Clock in the afternoon of yesterday, the 12th...I had work from 9 this morning to 4 (I got out at 3 cause I'm fucking BEAT) and I am finally home and resting...There will be more reviews coming involving the movie "Fire & Ice" and the original "Omen"..which suprisingly I've never seen....

I'm ashamed.

A Real Blog With Like...Pictures and Stuff. Gooooovy.

O'Kay..I think this is like..a real blog place..where people seriously read and say, "Whoa..this guys got an opinion.." or something usually some whiney BS about politics..and I post movie reviews. Movie reviews for everyone to enjoy, like I do.. and that's what I like so I thought I would step-up and go to a real Blog..thing. So..Enjoy!

About two or three weeks ago me and Robyn went to the movies. We wanted to see "The Da Vinci Code" but it was not playing at a time that we could attend. So we went and saw the movie "Over The Hedge"

"Over The Hedge (2006)"

O'Kay the movie was good..one of the things that bothered me a lot about this though was when we saw it for some reason they kept the lights on. And to this, I saw..what the fuck? Why would you leave the lights on? The only reason I could think of is maybe it's because there were little kids in the theatre..but..why the fuck would you leave the lights on ANYWAYS? Are these children now-a-days such pussies that they can't go to the movies with their parents and sit in the dark and watch a film? If so..that is ridiculous.

It was also extremely awkward because me and Robyn were pretty much the only teenagers/adult in the theatre without a child or a younger relative with us. It was pretty damn weird...

Anyways, I love kids movies. They're always nice to watch and get away from shitty movies/immature movies (GRANDMAS BOY??), action, sci-fi. But I can't watch them in the theatre. I always go and then get bored..but if I watch them at home, I'm entertained the whole time. Weird.

Anyways, I had a review for this already typed out and to be honest I don't feel like typing it out again...so just know that William Shatner and Avril Lavigne played the possums and I though they were awesome. The whole cast was good and even though I hate Bruce Willis I think his voice worked..and yeah, it's a good kids movie. And it's free of those stupid-ass pop-culture jokes Dreamworks goes for. So this is one of the better films to come out of Dreamworks animation department..

This blog will flourish! Stay tuned..
