V For Vendetta

V For Vendetta (2006)"

Alright. I saw this movie twice in theatres. I had free tickets from work..I went and saw it once with Robyn and once alone. When I went with Robyn we didn't know much about the movie..I mean, I had followed it but didn't know much about the story besides that V was a terrorist using violence for freedom, and we were both blown away by it. The second time the film was just as amazing. So, last night I had the chance to rewatch it (I've been waiting to rewatch it..I really wanted to see it again..) and it's still amazing.

Hugo Weaving plays the Guy Fawkes mask wearing terrorist V. Natalie Portman plays Evey, a woman who works for a TV Broadcasting Company. V saves her, and she saves him..she ends up becoming a part of V's plot to free England from a Totallitarian government.

Hugo Weaving is AMAZING as V. It's incredibly hard to get the audience to feel for a characters who face and facial expressions you NEVER see. But every line Hugo Weaving delivers seems perfectly delivered. He's a great actor with good range. He was perfect in "LOTR," Good in "The Matrix" (although the last film sucked..) and he completely nails the role of V.

Natalie Portman shows once again that she can act in the role of Evey...either George Lucas can't direct worth a shit or it's just that the dialogue was so bad that no matter how hard she tried to sell it in the Star Wars prequels..it just made her acting look like shit. She is great in "V For Vendetta." Solid acting all over this movie. I can't name one character that I thought had some shitty acting going on, (and there's quite a lot of characters in it, though some of them aren't around for very long.)

The film itself is amazing. There's one plot hole in it that isn't..very well discussed..but there are details that are part of it that somewhat stop it from being a plot hole. It's really hard to explain without giving anything away. The score by Dario Marianelli (I'd never heard of him before..) is GREAT. It works well in the film. It's also a great listen on it's own..READ AHEAD! This movie is a drama movie/action. Drama first, action second. It was marketed as an action film, that it is not, it's more drama oriented. "V For Vendetta" excels and it's a movie with a point, and a very good story. EVERYONE Should see this movie. This is one of the best movies of 2006.

SEE "V FOR VENDETTA" IT'S AN AMAZING AND IMPORTANT FILM!

The next post will be a review of the score for "V For Vendetta" by Dario Marianelli. I was going to put them both in the same post but for some reason when I try to add the picture of the CD cover to the post (which is virtually the same as the poster I used for the movie..but I'd like to stick to a certain style of posting..) it puts it at the top of the post and I don't want that..and I'm not in the mood to screw with it..SO. Either tomorrow night or in a little while I will put that up..

I loved this movie. I wonder if it's on video yet? It should be by now. I'm putting it at the top of my To Rent list.
