"Spider-Man 2 (2004)"

That poster was my favorite poster out of all of the ones used for marketing this movie. Anyways, rewatching this movie last night I realised that yeah, so far this is the best superhero movie to date that I've seen (I've yet to see the new Superman flick.) All the actors are back. The main plot is that Spider-Man is having problems and trying to juggle a social life along with his secret life as Spider-Man. He ends up giving up Spider-Man for a social life. Meanwhile an experiment backfires on Doctor Otto Octavius where 4 metal artms are stuck on his back and he becomes an enemy of Spider-Man.

All the acting is good but what the hell is with Kirsten Dunst? She used to be pretty but now..in some scenes she looks like she's on crack or something. I know I'm not the only person who thinks this because I've read such opinions elsewhere..But otherwise the acting is fine.

So..there's a lot of comedy in this movie. Like visual comedy. And it works, I realised that I always bitched about the action in this movie, and I know EXACTLY why. When you watch Dock Ock and Spider-Man fight..they're completely wreckless and just using anything at there disposal. This is what makes the fighting so damn intense. Unfortunately they don't let this kind of fighting go on long enough. Dock Ock always climbs up somewhere and threatens to drop someone, or runs away or some lame shit. Disappointing! I want to see more of Dock Ock ripping car doors off and throwing random shit off the street at Spider-Man..

Next...you have the side story where Norman Osbournes son (who's name escapes me at the second..) is trying to find out who Spider-Man is for killing his father. It works, will work better in the third movie now that it's completely set up. There's some scenes that stuck out to me as weird..such as where he smacks the shit out of peter at the party? So akward..and Peter just sits there humiliated. Pshh.

There's also the side story of Peter wanting to be with MJ but because he's Spider-Man he won't allow it. Yeah, this is pretty much a bulk of the movie..it gets boring at times but it pays off.

There's some really bad CGI of Dock Ock..yeah. The score, I don't know. It's OK. I wanted to buy the standalone CD but I'm not paying $15 for it. After some research I've discovered that they're much cheaper online and do indeed plan on buying them soon...I really like the main titles music. Problem is I heard that a lot of the music from the first was re-used cause Raimi loved it so much even as temp music. He would've even let Elfman attempt to score scenes. This pissed of Elfman and now that's why he is not scoring "Spider-Man 3."

One small nit-pick, I wish they wouldn't call it "Spider-Man 2," can't they be just a bit more creative? But anyways, the film works and is, until the next one comes out in May of 2007 the best comic book film to date that I've seen. "Spider-Man 3," looks much darker story wise. I hope it's also much darker action wise. We saw a glimpse of what it could be like where Dock Ock is in the hospital and just owning up on everyone in total silence. I'd like to see more intense action shots like that. Although chances are..we won't. Which is a damn shame.

"Spider-Man 2," is awesome though and is an amazing movie. After watching it, I'm again, hyped up for the next one. I can't wait for "Spider-Man 3." So far there's been a gradual rise in the quality of the movies and in the villains. Hopefully this will continue in the next film...I can't wait to see it for Topher Grace alone. He says one word in the trailer and to me he's NAILING what I would expect Brock to sound like, albeit he looks just a bit different..Point is, the movies good..watch it. Or rewatch it.
