Hey guys, I'm here to present my most anticipated winter movies. I've been really busy working on my radio show actually and stuff with the radio station and am finally getting around to doing this. So the winter movie season is basically Oscar season. A lot of the movies that come out in the winter the studio is confident it could be oscar-worthy.
Really quick I want to say that I'm not doing this because of the Oscars or any of that shit, there's just a lot of movies that are coming out that I am anticipating. Keep in mind not all the movies are oscar-worthy but a huge majority of them the studio believes are oscar-worthy. So now that's out of the way...lets start!
"Casino Royale": James Bond takes a turn for the better. Back to gritty raw action instead of that lame-ass over the top hollywood action. I don't want to go and see a spy movie where this super spy gets a car to drive on it's fucking side for like 30 seconds. I want to see this dude tearing shit up like a real spy, cold blood fucking murder. Daniel Craig is gonna be a good Bond but I really think Clive Owen would've been a better Bond. Clive Owen is just bad-ass and a great actor. Unfortunately with the "rebirth," of James Bond we have a new Bond song..by Audioslave/Soundgardens frontman Chris Cornell. The song,
SUCKS. It's fucking terrible. I'm starting to hate Chris Cornell and his annoying voice. If anyone listened to my show on the radio station last night you heard me bitching about this but Cornell SUCKS, as does the song. It doesn't sound anything like a Bond song. If I had heard it apart from the movie I'd be like "What the fuck is this?" Anyways, while Cornells Bond track sucks ass I hope David Arnolds score is good. Overall the movie looks like it will be a great "rebirth," of the Bond series..which truly needed it.
Casino Royale opens November 17th."The Fountain": I've never seen anything by Darren Aronofsky but this looks wonderful and is getting wonderful reviews. My big problem is that the trailer doesn't explain the plot to much...it just shows visuals and tries to get the story across visually. Only it doesn't. At least it didn't for me. If you're like me and didn't get it here's the plot outline off IMDB "As a 16th-century conquistador, Tom (Jackman) discovers the Tree of Life. He spends the next 1,000 years searching for a way to save his love, Izzi (Weisz), as he begins to develop an understanding of the mysteries that have plagued him for centuries." Doesn't that sound great? I'm confident the movie will be fucking amazing. From what I read this Darren Aronofsky's dream projects so that just enforces my high expectations.
The Fountain comes out November 24th."Flags of our Fathers": The first film out of the two Clint Eastwood directed films about Iwo Jima. Clint Eastwood has dome something totally cool..if you haven't heard about this yet, brace yourself. He's made two films focusing on Iwo Jima..one tells the story from the American point of view and the other tells it from the Japanese point of view. At points the two movies will intersect..just so cool! Anyways, this is the film that focuses on the American point of view and I've got pretty high expectations for this film. The only thing that makes me worry about this movie is it's scripted by that douche bag Paul Haggis. You know? The douche who directed and scripted that piece of shit
"Crash." You can make a good movie about racism without exaggerating, until then..fuck Paul Haggis. Then after that movie comes out, fuck Paul Haggis still. So mad
"Crash," got best picture..Clint Eastwoods
"Flags of our Fathers," for the win!
Flags of our Fathers comes out October 20th."The Marine": This movie stars John Cena of the WWE and he plays a marine looking to take out a fugitive that kidnapped his girlfriend and left him for dead. Yeah, I'm not anticipating this. I'm just fucking with you guys. I guarentee this movie sucks, to the one millionth degree.
The Marine should never be released and every print should be destroyed.
"The Prestige": Christopher Nolan rocks and will most likely contunie to rock.
"Batman Begins," is awesome and this movie looks damn good as well. It's about rival magicians. This isn't my most anticipated film..but I am looking forward too it big-time.
The Prestige comes out October 20th."Bug": O'Kay...this isn't an oscar movie, but I think the movie looks cool. At first I thought it looked kinda lame but after seeing another trailer I've determed it could be awesome. These two people are holed up in a hotel room and a bug infestation fucks with their mind..that's basically the plot. That may sound retarded but you have to see the trailer, looks cool.
You can check it out here! Looks cool to me. Also, don't confuse this movie with the Wes Craven flick with the same name coming out next year. Wes Craven blows and I'm sure his movie with the same title will as well. This film on the other hand I think will be a cool movie.
Bug comes out on December 1st."Saw 3": Excuse my vulgarness but everywhere I go I see people blowing their load over this movie. What the fuck? WHY? The original was alright...I'm sure the second one isn't much greater. Screw this movie.
Does anyone reading this actually give a shit when Saw 3 comes out? ..Hope not."The Pursuit of Happyness": Wow, I want to see a Will Smith movie? Holy shit, the world must be ending. Actually..no it's not. Cause Will Smith did something smart and took a turn for the better. Instead of making those dumbass Romantic Comedies he has chosen a serious movie. From the previews this looks really emotional..I won't actually go to the theatres to see this but I do want to see it very much. I'll check it out when it comes out on DVD, etc.
The Pursuit of Happyness comes out December 15th."Eragon": This looks good...another flick I wouldn't go and see in theatres but I am anticipating it a lot. The books are popular and the trailer looked pretty good. There was some stuff that bothered me but overall I was pretty happy with the trailer. I was actually extremely suprised as to how good the CGI looked overall.
Eragon comes out December 15th."Letters from Iwo Jima": This is the japanese Iwo Jima flick. I can't find a release date for it for some reason but I'm pretty sure it comes out in December some time. So I'll be keeping an eye out for the release date, I'm not seeing it on IMDB at the moment and don't feel like doing an all out search.
Stay tuned for the date.
Finally, my top anticipated films of the winter season:"Pans Labyrinth": I unfortunately probably won't see this in theatres 'cause it won't be showing anywhere near me, so I will have to wait for it to come out on DVD to see it. Here's the plot from IMDB: "Relocated in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, young Ofelia (Baquero) discovers a stone labyrinth near her new home. Inside the structure, she encounters a mythical creature who tells her she's the princess who belongs to this underground world, but in order to return home, she must complete three dangerous tasks." Sound cool? I think it sounds fucking awesome and it's directed by Guillermo Del Toro..and I <3333 him. He's amazing. To bad I probably won't be able to see it until DVD release.
Pans Labyrinth comes out on December 29th.
"Children of Men": I've praised this movie enough on here. Women no longer get pregnant..a miracle occurs and BAM, someone gets pregnant. Clive Owen and his characters Ex-Wife (played by Julianne Moore,) attempt to transport her to safe territory so she can safely have the child. If they do so her birth could hold the answer to why women can no longer have children. This movie looks fucking..AMAZING. It was supposed to come out September but the studio thinks it's oscar-worthy!! It's been pushed to December 29th! Unfortunately it still comes out in September world wide. =[. Lame. I'm extremely looking forward to this and I will see this in theatres..no matter what.
Children of Men comes out December 29th.I hope anyone who read this really enjoyed reading it. I put a lot of time and effort into it. Hope you guys enjoyed the awesome winter scenery as well, didn't want to use movie stuff. I wanted to spread winter cheer.. On to..THE FUTURE. Hopefully I'll have a review up in the next couple of days and some other stuff as well. Stay tuned..
